Hampton, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Tennis team was almost shut-out by the Pirates of Hampton University in MEAC action on Tuesday, March 28, 2006.
Hampton won 7-0 and every singles match was decided 6-0, 6-0 except one. That came when Christopher Clarke fell 6-1, 6-0 to M.A. Zorila-Ditoiu. All three doubles teams fell 8-0.
The Hawks return to action on March 31, 2006 as Delaware State travels to Princess Anne, MD. The match will be held at the Hawk Outdoor Tennis Center at 1:00 pm

The Hampton University men's tennis team captured the doubles point and then took all six matches in singles play, shutting down UMES, 7-0 Monday afternoon at the Nelson-Screen Tennis Stadium. With the victory the Pirates improve to 6-9 overall while the Hawks remain winless (0-10).
Hampton came out inspired in doubles play, winning on all three courts to claim the point. The Pirates clinched the point at courts No. 1 and 2, where Seo-Jae Chang and Alin Zorila-Ditoiu downed Kishan Sudusinghe and Christopher Clarke, 8-0 , while Marco Herrera and Gabriel Groh shut out Harold Fowler and Kapila Pilmatalauwe, 8-0.
Once singles play began, Pirate junior Herrera gave Hampton 2-0 advantage in the match when he posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Fowler at No. 3 singles. Next to finish were the No. 2 singles, where Hampton's Ditoiu captured a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Clarke.
In the battle at no. 1 singles , senior Chang recorded his eighth win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sudusinghe, while Hudson, Groh, and Lambert were all triumphant at the No. 4, 5, and 6 singles each defeating their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
