HAWKS FALL TO LOCAL RIVAL DELAWARE STATE, 5-2

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Christopher Clarke and Harold Fowler both won their respective matches and their doubles match but it wasn't enough as the Hawks were downed by the Hornets of Delaware State 5-2.

Clarke won at the #4 singles spot for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in a highly competitive match. He fell in the first set 7-6 but returned to win 6-1 and took the third set 10-8 over Micahel Siembid. Fowler, moving down to accommodate the return of Clarke, won at #5 singles 6-4, 6-3 over Florian Pejchar.

The two teamed up in doubles and defeated Paejchar and Adae Amoako 8-3.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the heroics were not enough, as Kishan Sudusinghe fell at #1 singles 6-3, 6-2 to Alexey Chibisov and Marcus Robinson fell at #2 singles 6-0, 6-3 to Oleg Mironchikov.

UMES also lost the doubles point despite the win as Andrew Graham and Buwaneka Galpothawela fell 8-2 to Siembid and Tyler Wyatt and Robinson and Sudusinghe fell to Chibisov and Mironchikov.

The Hawks head to Morgan State on the ninth of April for a conference match.
