Final Stats

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Despite getting two points in the fifth and sixth singles position, UMES was defeated in their conference match with Hampton at home 5-2. The Hawks go to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

UMES received the point in fifth singles position after an injury to Marcelo Reda gave Osvaldo Rivera (Christiansted, U.S. V.I.) the win. The Hawks also got a point in sixth position due to default.

The first singles position was a challenge, as MarQuet Robinson (Cambridge, Md.) gave a good match to Gellert Varga, but fell 1-6, 2-6. Emmash Sudusinghe (Colombo, Sri Lanka) won a pair of games in the first set, however fell in second position 2-6, 0-6 to Kenneth Green.

Dorian Thomas (Mitchellville, Md.) and Malcolm Johnson (Silver Spring, Md.) each won a game in the third and fourth spot respectively, but each fell 0-6, 1-6.

The third doubles match went to UMES by default, but fell to the Pirates 2-8 in the other two to give Hampton the point.

The Hawks will prepare for the MEAC Tournament coming up next week.
