Nov. 16, 2015 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior bowler Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) and freshman women's basketball Ciani Byrom (Winston-Salem, N.C.) were named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 16th. Seraus is being named for the second time this season while Byrom is being named for the first time.
Seraus excelled in the first MEAC Northern Division tournament this past weekend in Baltimore. On Saturday's individual round, she led the team to a 4-0 day with a combined pinfall of 882. She started with a 227 and stayed largely consistent, bowling three out of games in the 220s. On Sunday, she bowled in the anchor spot as the team went 2-2 in Baker play.
Byrom had an excellent first pair of games as a collegian. After scoring five points and securing a rebound in her debut against Georgetown, she broke out in style against USC Upstate on Sunday. Bryom scored a game high 24 points, going 9-for-12 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the line. On top of that she added three assists and a steal to her stat line.
