Nov. 17, 2015

NORFOLK, Va. - Hawks senior bowler Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) led the field at this past weekend's MEAC Northern Division Meet, and for that she earned the conference's Bowler of the Week awards, as announced by the MEAC Tuesday.

Rolling four consecutive and consistent plus 200 games, Seraus averaged a 220.5 on individuals Saturday. This included a high game of 227 in a matchup against Coppin State, and overall the Hawks went 4-0 in the individual round. On Sunday, the senior anchored the staff to a 2-2 record in the Baker rounds.

Seraus also won the conference's bowling accolade after her solid performance at the University of Pikeville Orange and Black Tournament. UMES sophomore Melanie Copey (Ontario, N.Y.) has also received the award with her weekend at the New Jersey Jamboree, which included a perfect 300 game.

The bowling squad will host the Hawk Classic this Friday thru Sunday at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, Delaware.
