Nov. 3, 2015 NORFOLK, Va. - Becoming the second Hawk in history is certainly noteworthy, and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) were the ones who took note. That was because sophomore bowler Melanie Copey (Ontario, N.Y.) was named the conference's Bowler of the Week on Tuesday.
Facing Monmouth on Friday in the New Jersey Jamboree, Copey bowled a perfect 300, becoming the first Hawk to achieve that feat since Paula Vilas in 2010, and just the second Hawk ever to roll all twelve shots for strikes. Overall, Copey averaged a 204.5 pinfall total over 10 matches and was an asset in all 12 matches on the way to a 7-5, sixth place finish at Fairleigh Dickinson.
This is already the second time the Hawks have achieved the award as senior Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) won MEAC Bowler of the Week after her performance at the UPIKE Orange and Black two weeks ago.
The Hawks head to face MEAC competition in an exclusive Northern Division matchup November 14th to the 15th in Baltimore.
