Dec. 8, 2015 DANBURY, Conn. and NORFOLK, Va.-Hawks senior Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) and freshman Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Ind.) were both outstanding during this past weekend's MEAC Northern Division Meet. On Tuesday, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) acknowledged the effort by honoring the duo as their Bowlers of the Week.
Furthermore, Seraus earned weekly honors from the MEAC, making her a recipient of that award for the third time this season.
Seraus bowled a 976 series over four individual matches during the Saturday portion of the tournament. The senior started off strong and stayed there, leading off with a 269 in a victory over Howard, then following it up with three more games in the 200s. After that, she anchored the Baker team winning a pair of games on Sunday.
Rhoda were nearly as impressive as the top rookie on the Hawks this weekend. She led off with a 234 in the Howard victory before bowling a weekend high of 246 against Delaware State. Over four games on Saturday, Rhoda averaged a 213.75, while participating in all four Baker matches on Sunday.
The pair of bowlers and the rest of the Hawks will resume their 2015-16 schedule at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark. this coming January.
