UMES BLANKED IN SEASON OPENERS

BALTIMORE  -- After several postponed matches, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Tennis Team opened its season in Baltimore versus Coppin State. The squad fell in their conference opener, 4-0. Hours later, the Hawks faced Norfolk State in a nonconference neutral-site matchup. The club was defeated, 5-0.

With both setbacks, UMES dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Three Hawks made their collegiate debut against the Eagles, led by Michael Cha (Seoul, Korea). Cha served as the team's No. 1 and recorded three points before falling to Coppin State's Patrick Thomas (6-2, 6-1). Albert Owusu-Ansha also tallied a point for UMES as he was defeated, (6-0, 6-1).

Tomorrow, Maryland Eastern Shore will stay in Baltimore as they will take on Loyola (Md.). First-serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
