PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Much has been said regarding the successful season of the Hawks men's and women's basketball teams. On Monday, the town of Princess Anne added their name to the public record by issuing a proclamation commending the team's success over the past year.

Each team was presented a proclamation of their own by Garland Hayward, a town commissioner. Men's basketball head coach Bobby Collins and women's head coach Fred Batchelor were on hand to accept the proclamation along with many members of the teams.

Earlier this fall, the UMES cross country team were also given a proclamation by the town upon winning the MEAC Championship.

The men's team went 18-15 this season, their highest win total since 1974, while earning their first postseason berth in 34 years. The Lady Hawks won 11 games in the regular season before advancing to their first MEAC title game in program history.
