PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The last time the Hawk bowlers rolled out a ball down a lane competitively it was December, when the team earned a 2nd place finish at the second MEAC Northern Division Meet of the season. This weekend they resume their schedule as they head to Jonesboro, Arkansas for the 2016 edition of the Mid-Winter Invitational, hosted by Arkansas State University.

The Red Wolves will run the three day event, which will start Friday at the Jonesboro Bowling Center, and will consist of two days of individual competition and Baker matches followed by bracket play on Sunday. All UMES matches will be broadcast live on The Cube.

In 2015, UMES claimed victory after going 9-3 for the weekend and 2-0 in bracket play. On Sunday, the Hawks blazed past perennial power Nebraska and the hosts Arkansas State en route to the victory. Other highlights include senior Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) bowling a 267 in a Saturday win over Arkansas State and a team win over Vanderbilt on the tournament's first day.

The Mid-Winter Invitational is the first of three tournament across three straight weeks. After the journey to Arkansas the Hawks will travel to Pennsylvania for the Kutztown Invite from January 23rd to the 25th and the Prairie View Invitational in Texas to conclude the month of January. This tripleheader of tournaments will kick off the home stretch for the bowling team.
