Danielle August named ECAC Bowler of the Week

DANBURY, Conn.- Danielle August (Mililani, Hawaii) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Bowler of the Week, as announced by the organization Tuesday. The Hawk freshman impressed during the three-day Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark. this past weekend.

August bowled in all 13 matches the Hawks participated in over the weekend. After going 3-2 in Baker matches on Friday, she burst out of the gate during Saturday's individuals with a 257 game against Wisconsin-Whitewater. A consistent performance around the 200 mark followed for the next four matches, culminating in a total pinfall of 1,026, an average of 205.2 per game to lead her team.

Her total pinfall ranked 13th among all performers at the tournament. August and the Hawks closed out the tournament with a victory over Louisiana Tech on Sunday, placing them ninth overall.

Additionally, August was named one of the two UMES Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

She is the third Hawk bowler to earn an ECAC honor this season. Teammates Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) and Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Ind.) were honored as Bowler of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, back on December 8th.

The Hawks return to the lanes in two weeks at the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Texas.
