Feb. 26, 2016 PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland – It’s been a month since the Hawks bowling squad competed in a tournament, so it will be a rejuvenated squad who will host the third installment of a MEAC Northern Divisional Meet  at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, Delaware this weekend.
Competition begins Saturday at 1:00p.m. with four traditional rounds and continues with four rounds of Baker matches starting at 9:00a.m. Sunday. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
In addition to the host Hawks, bowlers from Delaware State, Coppin State, Howard and Morgan State will be represented. UMES will face each team once per day.
After two meets against the MEAC North, the Hawks stand in second place with an 11-5 record. Their specialty has been individuals, where they are 7-1. UMES has gone 4-0 against Coppin, 3-1 against Howard, 2-2 against Morgan and Delaware State in head-to-head matchups this season. At the last MEAC meet, the Hawks went 5-3, winning three in individuals and two Bakers.
This will be the final conference tune up prior to the MEAC Championships in late March. UMES will need help to earn a first place finish in the Northern Division but a strong showing will cement a second place spot. The teams who qualify bowl to determine seeding in the tournament, but the Hawks have already guaranteed themselves a place in the eight team field.
