March 25, 2016 NORFOLK, Virginia- The awards just keep rolling in for Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Melanie Copey (Ontario, New York) and senior Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba). The pair were named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Academic team.
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
"Congratulations to our bowling student-athletes, who maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average, during the 2015-16 academic year," said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. "I would also like to acknowledge and thank the institutional and athletic academic support staffs, faculty, coaches and families for their support in the success of the student-athletes both on the lanes and in the classroom."
33 student-athletes from the conference's 10 bowling institutions.
Copey was already honored as a Second-Team All-MEAC selection earlier this week. Seraus earned not only a Bowler of the Week on Tuesday but was honored as the conference's Bowler of the Year.
