The University of Maryland Eastern Shore rolled through Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference competition in Day 1 of one MEAC North Meet No. 3 and hosted by Coppin State University.
The Hawks (64-34, 15-5 MEAC) finished a perfect 4-0, grabbing all four traditional matches they bowled on Day 1 of competition.
The Shore topped Delaware State 963-856, stopped Coppin State 976-716, beat Howard 994-909 and then finished off the day with an 895-833 win against Morgan State.
Graduate student Thashaina Seraus (Oranjestad, Aruba) led all hawks with a 200.25 average in four games.
Junior Melanie Copey (Ontario, New York) averaged a 196.25 over four games.
Freshman Cayla Hicks (Richmond, Virginia) put up a 188.75 average on the day.
Sophomore Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Indiana) knocked down 198.33 pins per each of her three games.
Junior Jalesa Johnson (Delmar, Delaware) bowled three games at a 193.33 average.
The Hawks have at least three more events on the schedule including the USBC Sectionals (March 11,13), The Music City Classic (March 17-19), The MEAC Championships (March 24-26) and then hope to be heading to the NCAA Championships (April 13-15) and the USBC Championships (April 20-22).
