GLEN BURNIE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore had a fantastic performance on Day 2 of the opening Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference meet of the season. The Hawks (30-4) powered through five straight traditional matches posting scores of better than a thousand in each victory.
The Hawks were led by a quartet of individuals who all averaged 200+ per game.
Sophomore
Chloe Skurzynski (Carlisle, Pennsylvania) had a huge day with a four-game average of 230.0. Skurzynski had a 67 % strike percentage, and 87 % fill rate and got nine-or-better on her first ball 90 percent of the time.
Senior
Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) continues to be the model of consistency so far this season posting a five-game average of 221.8. Her day included a 58 % strike percentage, a 92 % fill rate and took down all 11 of her single-pin spares.
Freshman
Brooke Roberts (Port Orange, Florida) scored a 209 average for four games with a 57 % strike rate and posted a nine-or-better on the first ball 81 % of the time.
Senior
Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) put up a 207.5 over five games, led the team in fill percentage at 94 % and had a nine-or-better percentage of 82.
The Shore posted wins against North Carolina A&T State (1011-968), Howard (1,022-852), Delaware State (1,049-926), Norfolk State (1,042-738) and host Coppin State (1,039-812).
Play continues Sunday morning (Nov. 10) with one final traditional match followed by bracket play.
