The Shore fall to 3rd place at Stallings Invite

Win streak ends at 30 straight matches

GREENSBORO, North Carolina — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore pushed its win streak to 30 straight matches on Saturday at the Stallings Invitational. But the Shore dropped a Traditional match to NTCA No. 20 Mount St. Mary's and another to No. 17 Louisiana Tech to finish 3-2 on the second day of competition and fall to third place in the standings.

The No. 7 Hawks (41-6) opened the day with a 963-956 win against No. 13 Lincoln Memorial and then topped host and No. 8 North Carolina A&T State 1,022-968. The squad put up 1,006 against The Mount, but a 1,090 sunk the cause.

A win against No. 15 Delaware State came next before a tight 967-962 loss to Tech.

Classmate Isabel Hughes (Raleigh, North Carolina) had a 204.5 average over five matches, had a 48% strike rate and filled at 86%.

Senior Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) averaged a 203 over five matches, led the team with a 92% fill rate and had a 46% strike percentage.

Classmate Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) averaged 193.4 over five matches and filled at a 90% rate.
