PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore split a pair of matches with Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Delaware State University and wound up in second place at the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State University at AMF Lanes in Towson, Maryland.
The Hawks (52-32, 8-2 MEAC) topped the Hornets the first time around with a 4-2 victory and received a second-round bye.
But they saw Delaware state again after they knocked off Duquesne in the second round. This time the Hornets came out on top 4-1.
Junior
Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) led the way for The Shore individually with a five-game average of 207.4 and made first-team All-Tournament after finishing in third place.
Paulina Torres (Ponce, Puerto Rico) averaged a 200.2, while junior
Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) averaged a 200 and both made Second-Team All-Tournament.
The Hawks will return to action Feb. 22-23 for the second MEAC date of the season hosted by North Carolina A&T State at AMF All-Star Lanes in Greensboro, North Carolina.
