The Shore tops Delaware State to reach MEAC Final vs. N.C. A&T State

2-0 win creates rematch of 2017-18 final

CHESAPEAKE, Virginia — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore pulled out a 2-0 victory against Delaware State to capture a spot in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship against defending Champion North Carolina A&T State at noon on Sunday (March 24).

In a match that began at 7:30 a.m., the Hawks opened with a 914-894 Traditional victory powered by a 222 by freshman Chloe Skurzynski (Carlisle, Pennsylvania).

The Hawks then came back from a 23-pin deficit in the fifth game of the total pinfall Baker match with a 209-146 in the fifth game — for an 921-881 win.

The championship game will be a rematch of last season's best-of-seven Baker finale which the Aggies won 4-1. It will also be a best-of-seven Baker format, while the rest of the event has been Mega Match format.

While the tournament has been double elimination up to this point, the championship match is winner-take-all despite A&T not having a loss to this point.
The final will pit the MEAC's two most successful bowling programs against each other. Maryland Eastern Shore leads all teams with eight conference titles, while North Carolina A&T State has five championships.

The championship final will be rebroadcast on ESPNU on Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. EST.
