Hawks struggle to score in loss at VCU
RICHMOND, Virginia - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks were held to a season low in points in Wednesday night's 59-36 loss at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The loss drops UMES to 6-6 overall while VCU improves to 11-1 on the year.
The Hawks fell behind 18-12 after the first ten minutes of play but fought back to within three, 27-24, by half. The second half momentum titled towards VCU as the Hawks struggled to an eight point third quarter and four points in the fourth. During the final 20 minutes of play, the Hawks shot below 20% from the field while VCU was well over 50% from the field on their way to a 23-point victory.
In addition to the offensive struggles, the Hawks tallied a season-low 22 rebounds and were outrebounded by a margin of 19.
Timaya Lewis-Eutsey led VCU with a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds.Â
Ariana Seawell, who hit her first four shot attempts, ended up leading the Hawks offensively with 10 points while guard
Mya Thomas finished with eight points.
The Hawks travel to the University of Buffalo on December 30.
