The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Mariana Santos Rivero has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Bowler of the Week.
Alongside Santos Rivero, North Carolina A&T's Sara Giraldo earned Rookie of the Week honors.
A senior, Santos Rivero delivered a standout performance at the 2025 Track Kat Klash tournament, leading all competitors with a 217 individual average across five games. For the weekend, she tied for first in frames bowled (182), ranked first in average per game (20.48), sum baker average (19.97), sum of fill percentage (86.2), and finished second in striking percentage (78.6). She also finished third in nine-count spare conversation (93.8).
Santos Rivero rolled high games of 233, 244, and 235 to finish with 1,085 total pins and helped the Hawks secure key traditional wins over Southern (925-758) and Texas Southern (899-861). Her consistency also anchored UMES in Baker play, where she contributed to victories over Jackson State (872-862), Alabama State (972-758), Oklahoma Christian (828-799), and Prairie View A&M (880-755).
North Carolina A&T's freshman Giraldo impressed at the Track Kat Klash, finishing with a 188.2 individual average to place 17th overall. For the week, she ranked seventh in average per frame (18.84) with 136 compete frames. She ranked fifth in baker average (18.85), fourth in sum of fill percentage (81.8) and eighth in strike percentage (38.87%).
Giraldo was instrumental in the Aggies' 3-1 traditional record with wins over Wichita State (959-949), Jackson State (990-861), and Alabama State (917-782), as well as a 6-2 mark in Baker play highlighted by victories against Prairie View A&M (981-728), Maryland Eastern Shore (1006-864), and Southern (978-806).
The Hawks return to action this weekend, Nov. 8-9 at the MEAC No. 1 in Baltimore.
