Pawichai paces Hawks in first tournament of the fall


ANNAPOLIS, Maryland | The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's golf team was led by newcomer Polakrit Pawichai in the first tournament of the fall over the weekend.


Playing in the US Naval Academy Goat Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland, the Hawks finished with a 54-hole total of 897 with rounds of 303, 297 and 298.


The UMES scoring was paced by a trio of juniors. Playing in his first tournament as a Hawk, junior transfer Polakrit Pawichai finished T-20 with rounds of 77, 70 and 72. Entering his third season as a Hawk, Max Osten recorded rounds of 74, 74 and 73. Newcomer and junior transfer Horace Pennix III debuted with a 71 followed by rounds of 77 and 78. Jaden Hanson, a sophomore from England, improved each round with scores of 80, 77 and 75. Spanish sophomore Marcos Ramirez contributed with scores of 81, 76 and 78.


As a team, UMES finished 13th out of 15 teams. George Washington won the event with a three round total of 856.


UMES will be back in competition on October 5th at the University of Maryland Testudo Cup.
