This week on Hawk Talk Live, Will DeBoer and guest host Matt McCann welcome Bobby Collins (men's basketball), Jalesa Johnson (bowling), and Miryne Thomas (men's basketball) to the stage at M Street Grilleà ¢ ' ¬ ‚¬ ¹.
Matt McCann is entering his sixth season as Assistant Director of Media Relations for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletics Department. Matt serves as the school's primary contact for volleyball, cross country, track & field and baseball, while assisting in other areas of the department, which includes serving as a departmental historian.
During his time in Princess Anne, the Hawks athletic department has experienced social media expansion, improved video capabilities, and a department rebrand.
McCann joined The Shore after three seasons working in minor league baseball. He most recently worked for the Bowie Baysox (Eastern League) as a Group Events Manager in 2013, his second tour of duty with the club after working as a Marketing Intern for 2011. McCann also served as promotions assistant for the Frederick Keys (Carolina League) in 2012, assisting in the marketing department.
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management from Mount St. Mary's University in May 2012. Aside from earning his degree, Matt played outfield on the club baseball team and worked on-air as a DJ for the college radio station, WMTB.
In addition to his service at Maryland Eastern Shore, he works with the Delmarva Shorebirds on game nights and officiates high school volleyball matches and rec league basketball.
A native of Newark, Delaware, McCann currently resides in Salisbury.
