Megan Reid is entering her fourth year with the Hawks track and field team as a volunteer coach, working with the Eastern Shore jumpers while pursuing her doctoral degree in Food and Agricultural Science.

Reid comes to the Shore from Manchester, Jamaica where she was a jumper and relay runner for Holmwood Technical High School before heading to the University of Technology in her home country, trained by world-renowned coach Stephen Francis. After earning her degree in Nutrition and Product Development, Reid turned her eyes to the states and made way to Maryland Eastern Shore where she completed her master’s degree in Education.

While working on her doctorate as a volunteer for the Hawks in 2022, Reid is concentrating her focus on two key areas – food product development and education extension in nutrition. With this focus, Reid hopes to apply her education from the Shore to those suffering from diabetes, with hope of regulating blood sugar levels and hypertension in eventual patients.

Reid’s combination of coaching and nutrition helped the Hawks grow as a program prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and heading into the Indoor Track & Field season she looks to improve the team into a new season. During her tenure, Reid has aided the Hawks to a pair of 4th place finishes for the Indoor Men’s and Women’s teams, alongside of three of her athletes scoring in horizontal jumps during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships with one member earning IC4A/ECAC All-East Team honors.
