2020-21 (Senior): Lost season due to COVID 19 pandemic ...
2019-20 (Junior): Played in six tournaments (14 rounds) … averaged 77.21 (+5) shots per round… posted two-under-par, 70, as his season low round during the second round of SSU Tiger Fall Invitational on October 29, 2019… earned MEAC All-Academic Honors.
High School/Club: Played Golf (2013-2016) and won four AAAA Regional Tournaments... Awards: Most Improved Golfer (2015), Athlete of Distinction (2016), Regional Champion (2016)... as a team they won the 4A Regional Championship (2016), were the Lower State Champions (2016), and came in fifth in the State Championships (2016).
Personal: Born on June 20, 1997... Son of Wanda and Ricky Gillespie... Has 1 sibling, Keely... Major is PGA Golf Management... pre-game routine/superstition is "thinking about what kind of shot I want to hit then be confident with myself and hit the shot"… Best advice/favorite saying is be positive and take it one shot at a time … Personal best sports moment is "playing in a tournament at Campbell University in 2018 and was playing okay and hit a terrible shot off the tee ... 140 yards out, I hit a soft pitching wedge to the hole and watched it roll in the hole for an eagle! That was probably the coolest shot I’ve hit so far"
… Most influential person in his life is his Dad. "My Dad is probably one of the hardest working people I have ever known. He makes sure I am always practicing and doing my best at everything I do" ... Personal athletic goal is to get into better shape and win a tournament. When he graduates from college he hopes to play professional golf or to work at a private golf facility and work his way up to the head pro position.
