PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) improved to 3-0 on the weekend as it plays host to the 2004 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round-Up. Led by junior Jana Milin's second triple-double in as many days, the Hawks defeated Bethune-Cookman (BCC) 30-19, 30-25, 30-25.
UMES (11-12, 5-1) jumped out to early leads in all three games and held on to close out the match in three quick games. Milin led the team with 14 kills and 13 digs to go along with 10 assists for her second triple-double in the Hawks last three games. It is Milin's third triple-double of the season.
Junior Mandie Dever and senior Mamie Lewis joined Milin in double-figure kills with 12 each. Freshman Kate Smith recorded 35 assists, while senior Aja Smith had 11 digs.
Leading BCC (6-6, 3-2) was Melissa Sanders, who had a match-high 15 kills, and Megan Myers, who had 28 assists.
UMES has two games remaining this afternoon as they will face Norfolk State at 1:00 pm and then close out day two against the #24 ranked Florida A&M Rattlers.
