BALTIMORE, MD. Eriel Jeffery totaled a team high 13 kills and Melanie Durimel added 12 kills as UMES dropped a 3-1 (25-30, 30-28, 31-33, 11-30) non-conference decision to Morgan State Tuesday night at Hill Field House. With the loss the Lady Hawks fell to 5-27 while the Lady Bears improved to 13-19.
Kim Braxton and Yael Rozner finished with seven kills each while Stephanie Braxton led the team in digs with 18. Esther Johnson had 20 kills to lead Morgan State while Ashley Preston finished with a match high 34 digs.
The Lady Bears finished the match with 67 kills on 175 attempts for a .251 hitting percentage, while holding the maroon and gray to .185 percent (51 kills on 151 attempts). Morgan State, who also capitalized on UMES errors (23 for the game), used those opportunities to pull out a tough 33-31 win in game four which could have gone either way.
The Lady Hawks return to action on Friday, Nov. 11, when they play in their final match of the season at George Washington.
