PRINCESS ANNE, MD - Eboni Reavis and Lia-Symone Britt were named as Head and Assistant Coach, respectively, of the UMES Cheerleading program. The duo takes over for Crystal Blue, who left to pursue other opportunities.
Reavis was a four year letterwinner under current track coach Ernest Barrett. She was an assistant under Barrett for one year before taking the helm of Area Director in the Office of Residence Life. A native of Virginia, Reavis was a cheerleader for eight years and was the MVP and cheer captain at Greensville County High School (Emporia, Virginia).
"It's an honor and a privilege to take over as the Lady Hawk cheerleading coach," said Reavis. "I love UMES and am excited to bring my school spirit to the program."
Britt was a member of the Hawk cheerleading squad for two years and was named team MVP and team captain during the 2003-04 season. She was also named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Star cheer team in 03-04 and was a member of the NCA All-American cheerleading team from 1998-2002.
"I am very excited to have Lia as an assistant," Reavis said. "She was an all-star cheerleader during her time here and I am glad to have her experience and knowledge of the sport."
Reavis, Britt and the squad will kick off their competition schedule on Nov. 18-19 at the East Coast Championship in Salisbury, Maryland.
