PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The UMES Greater Annapolis Alumni Chapter will hold a Dinner Dance this Saturday, February 18 for Hall of Fame Basketball Coach, Dr. Joe Robinson. The event will be held at the Princess Royal in Ocean City, MD from 9:30pm until 1:00am.
Joe Robinson coached the Hawks, then Maryland State College, from 1966-72. He holds a 101-33 career coaching record and was inducted into UMES Hall of Fame (HOF) as a player in 1973. This year's HOF banquet will recognize Robinson as his status in the HOF changed from player to coach in 2005.
Robinson's 1969-70 team went undefeated as they finished the season with a 29-0 regular season record. That team saw three of its players drafted into the NBA (Jake Ford, Levi Fontaine, James "Bones" Morgan).
Several notables that are scheduled to attend include NBA Draftees William "Billy" Gordon, Talvin Skinner and James "Bones" Morgan. HOF members Jack Bryant, Michael Casey, Curtis Gentry and many others will also be in attendance.
