PHILADELPHIA, PA. - Amanda Heyser threw her first career no-hitter in Drexel's (14-24) 11-0 game one win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (3-36). In game two Molly Dacey hit her second homerun in as many days and drove in a single-game record eight runs, to help the Dragons claim an 18-0 victory.
Drexel used seven extra base hits to put 11 runs on the board through the first four innings and end game one against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 11-0 after five innings. Heyser pitched her first career no-hitter, retiring the first 13 batters of the game before issuing a walk in the fifth inning. She faced just one more than the minimum number of batters while striking out nine. Ashlee Veilleux went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, breaking Drexel's record for RBIs by a freshman. Sandi Wambold went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Drexel's three-run fourth inning.
In addition to tossing her first career no-hitter, Heyser went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs to help her cause. Senior Lauren Greenberg picked up her first hit of the season. Veilleux, Brianne Brown, Wambold, Molly Dacey and Heyser all had multi-hit games for Drexel as the Dragons pounded out 13 hits.
In game two, Amanda Shattuck tossed a one-hit shutout in five innings of work, leading the Dragons to a 18-0 victory over the Hawks in game two. Molly Dacey hit her second homerun in as many days when she hit a three-run shot in a 10-run fourth inning that saw 15 Dragons come to the plate. Dacey went 4-for-4 in the game and set a new Drexel single-game record with eight RBIs.
Drexel put four runs on the board in the first two innings and Shattuck fanned a career-high 11 batters to preserve the shutout. The Hawks' lone hit came on an infield single by Jenille Edwards in the first inning. Shattuck went on to face just 19 batters in her fourth victory of the season.
Freshman Danielle Smith helped break things open in the second inning when she drove a ball into centerfield for an RBI single to make it a 6-0 game. The run-scoring base hit was Smith's first career knock. Victoria Hanks, who made her fourth start of the season behind home plate, also garnered her first career hit in the game when she lifted an RBI-single over the second baseman to keep Drexel's big fourth inning rolling. Jessica Bongiovanni and Shattuck also recorded their first career base knocks and each player also drove in a run. Eva Noelsch went 2-for-3 in the game, picking up her first hits of the season and scored a pair of runs.
On the day, Dacey went 6-for-7 with two doubles, a homerun, 10 RBIs and she also scored five runs. In addition to Dacey and Noelsch, Sandi Wambold also had a multi-hit game. Christina Rodriguez scored a single-game record-tying four runs in the contest. As a team, Drexel set single-game record by scoring 18 runs.
