BALTIMORE, MD - Morgan State cruised past UMES, 93-59 in a MEAC men's basketball contest Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.
Morgan State (7-11, 5-3 MEAC) started heating things up early, as the Bears held a 23-5 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.
After trailing 47-20 at halftime, the Hawks came out of the intermission with improved effort and ended up trimming the Bears lead to 65-40 following a layup by Antonio McMillion at the 11:48 mark. The Bears countered by expanding its lead to as much as 38 points.
MSU dominated UMES on the boards by outrebounding the Hawks by a 44-30 margin, and held a 29-12 advantage on the glass in the first half.
UMES (3-17, 0-8) was paced by Ed Tyson who connected on 8-of-12 free throws and finished the game with 18 points. McMillion led UMES on the glass and finished with seven boards and 17 points.
Joseph McLean led the Bears with 17 points and seven rebounds. Ron Timus and Jamar Smith scored 15 points each.
The Hawks return to action on Monday, January 29 in a home decision against Coppin State at 7:30 pm.
