TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - Leslie Robinson scored 19 points to lead Florida A&M past the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), 93-60 in a men's basketball contest Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee.
Robinson paced five Rattlers in double figures. Rome Sanders added 18 on 7-of-8 shooting from the field while Brian Greene contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds. Darius Glover contributed a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds while Lamar Twitty chipped in with 10 points.
Ed Tyson led all scorers with 26 points. Aleksandar Popvic was the only other Hawk in double figures and finished with 11.
FAMU (15-12, 9-5 MEAC) outrebounded the UMES 50-28 and shot a blistering 58% from the field (36-of-62) compared to 32% by the Hawks (21-of-65). The Rattlers outscored the maroon and gray 44-18 in the paint and led 28-14 in bench points.
The Rattlers used an 11-3 run midway through the first half to take control of the game, and led 42-28 at the break.
UMES (3-22, 0-13 MEAC) will battle Bethune-Cookman in a road contest on Monday at 7:30 pm.
