GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) dropped both ends of a baseball doubleheader to North Carolina State A & T (NCAT) by scores of 13-3 and 4-3. They posted 16 hits on the day but gave up 23 to the Aggies and made three errors.

Game two saw the Hawks take a one run lead in the first inning. Eric Gaines led-off the game reaching second base on an error. He went to third on a Josh Dean ground out and then later scored on a Joel Gonzalez double to left.

UMES added another run in the third. Dean opened the inning with a single to left. Gonzalez then walked and Justin Hoban flied out to allow Dean to tag and move to third. Kevin Hillenburg hit a single through the right side, plating Dean and picking up an RBI.

Up 2-0 NCAT got on track in the bottom of the inning, scoring two of their own off of Hawk starter Mike Roberts. Roberts would finish with a no decision, working six innings and allowing three earned runs. He walked a pair and struck out a pair.

Tied at two UMES got their last run of the game in the fourth. Tyler Love hit a one out double to center. After another out Dean hit a two out single to left, picking up the RBI on Love's run.

The Aggies responded again tying it up in the bottom of the inning on a Nelson Santos homer to left.

They got the winning run in the final inning off of Tyler Winch as Joe McIntyre doubled to center scoring Jeremy Jones.

Ron Phelps picked up the win in relief for the Aggies.

Game one was a different story as the Aggies pounded out 13 runs, getting seven in the seventh inning. Starter Dustin Longchamps got touched up for nine of those runs, all earned, officially working six and one third innings.

UMES led the game early, getting a single run in the first and two in the third. The first inning run came as Dean hit a two-out single to right, scoring Gonzalez who had walked earlier in the inning.

They added the pair of runs in the third as Gonzalez led-off with an infield single. Hoban doubled down the left field line, putting Gonzalez on third. Hillenburg then grounded out but picked up on RBI as Gonzalez scored. Dean hit another single to center and Hoban scored on that.

The Hawks only had seven hits in the game and only two more after the third inning.

Longchamps took the loss and Chris Eggers got the win, working seven innings and allowing just three earned runs and walking four.
