PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior Christina Estebané (El Paso, Texas) and sophomore Peter Sang (Kapsabet, Kenya) have been the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Athlete's of the Week for the period ending Oct. 26.
It is the third time this season each has been given the honor.
Estebane led the women's volleyball team to a 2-0 mark and extended its home win streak to 16 matches. She hit 57 percent from the floor and totaled 71 assists for the week.
In a win over Delaware State, the setter tallied 40 assists and hit 44 percent. She followed that performance with 31 assists, three aces and three digs in a win against Hampton.
Estebane was also named MEAC Player of the Week for her performance.
The Lady Hawks are back in action Friday, Oct 31, at Coppin State at 7 p.m.
Sang, of the men's cross country team, finished second in the MEAC Championships, hosted by UMES Saturday. He crossed the finish line on the eight-kilometer course in 25:40.47, helping the team to a runner-up finish for the conference title.
