ESTEBANe, SANG NAMED UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior Christina Estebané (El Paso, Texas/Midland Coll.) of the women's volleyball team and sophomore Peter Sang (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Boys HS) of the men's cross-country team, have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Athletes of Week for the period ending Sept. 14.

Estebané posted a double-double in all three matches at the Ramada Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y., including a three-set win over Maine. She led the Lady Hawks to a 1-2 mark and runner-up finish in the tournament while averaging 36 assists and 14.6 digs. A setter, Estebané also had 15 kills on 53 attacks and committed only one attack error.

Estebané was tabbed MEAC Player of the Week for the second time this season for UMES (4-5), which faces Norfolk State in Norfolk, Va., Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sang was 21st in the Navy Invitational 8K, the top UMES finisher in the event. Sang's time of 26:07 propelled the Hawks to a 12th-place result in their first meet of the season.

UMES cross country opens its home schedule with the Cappy Anderson Invitational Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m.
