PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior Caylin Woodward (Garden Grove, Calif.) and junior Peter Sang (Kapsabet, Kenya) have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sept. 20.
Woodward, an outside hitter on the women's volleyball team, recorded her 1,000-career kill against Pittsburgh in a 3-0 loss and collected her third double-double of the season in a five-set win over Youngstown State both on Sunday in the Pitt Blue and Gold Tournament.
She averaged 2.64 kills and 3.09 digs per set with 29 total kills, 21 digs, seven assists, and six blocks in three matches.
UMES (9-5) hosts the Hampton Inn Invitational Saturday with Sacred Heart and Norfolk State.
Sang, of the men's cross-country team, was the Hawks top finisher in the Cappy Anderson Invitation in Princess Anne. He was 28th in 26:20.67.
The cross-country team is off until Oct. 3 at the Mason Inviational in Centreville, Va.
