PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore fans now have two new opportunities to connect with their favorite teams as the athletic department has added a text messaging service and auction site.

UMES athletics headlines and final scores are now available to be sent directly to fans by text messages. Fans may sign up for the new text messaging service through the Hawks athletic website.

Fans can choose to receive all or select Hawks sports with this service, as well as receive headlines, scores or both.

UMES is also launching an online auction thru the athletic site, where fans may bid on ticket packages, apparel, game used gear and fan experiences.

On Tuesday, fans will have the opportunity to bid on a one of a kind experience in being able to sit on the bench during this Friday's Hawk Hysteria. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the volleyball team taking on the Hampton Lady Pirates. The auction winner, who will be able to bring three friends, will sit next to the UMES coaches and players as the men's and women's basketball teams kick off their practice season with contests and scrimmages.

Bidding for this experience ends on Friday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
