PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Redshirt senior Samantha Chukwura (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman Maline Vaitai (Salt Lake City, Utah) have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the period ending Oct. 25.

Chukwura and Vaitai helped the women's volleyball team to straight-set victories over Howard and Morgan State Friday and Sunday, extending its winning streak to 11.

Chukwura tallied 19 kills on 32 attacks with just four errors for a hitting percentage of .469.

Vaitai totaled 32 kills with 12 errors and 65 attacks for a .308 pecentaeg. She recorded a career high 21 kills against MSU while hitting .385. Vaitai tallied eight digs and seven aces as well.

UMES (17-9, 6-0 MEAC) travels to Delaware State Friday at 7 p.m., putting its NCAA-leading 36-match conference winning streak on the line.
