PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Juniors Chelsea Sanders (Rochester, N.Y.) and Percy Woods (Hyattsville, Md.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 28. This is the first time this season that either student-athlete has received this award.

Woods was the top UMES men's basketball performer in each of the Hawks' four games this week. The Hyattsville, Md., native finished the week with 60 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Woods had 13 points, four assists and two rebounds in UMES' loss to Kansas State University before he scored 15 points against Louisiana Tech University. He then went on to post 18 points and five rebounds against the University of Wyoming before concluding his week with a 12 point, five rebound and three assist game against Portland State University. For the season, Woods leads UMES in points (95), points per game (11.9) and assists (26).

Sanders led the women's basketball team in their lone performance this week as she registered a 15 point, eight rebound and one block line against Canisius University. The Rochester, N.Y., product was also 9-for-10 from the free-throw line and had one steal in the contest. For the season, Sanders leads the Hawks in points (42), points per game (14), rebounds (20) and shots attempted (42).

The men's basketball team has concluded its six game road trip and will return home to square off with United State Naval Academy on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., for the first of three consecutive home games. The women travel to American University on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., for their next contest.
