Oct. 6, 2014 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore cross country runners Barbora Blahutova (Slavkov, Czech Republic) and Khalil Rmidi Kinnini (Malaga, Spain) were named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending on October 6th. Blahutova is named for the second time this year while Kinnini is being named for the third time.
Both runners continued their excellent seasons at the Farm Run Invitational hosted by Delaware State University. Blahutova and Kinnini each won their individual races leading the Hawks to both men and women's team wins for the second straight week. Blahutova finished with a time of 18:28.8 in the 5k race to finish first for the third consecutive week while Kinnini's time of 25:00.1 to win the 8k race and earn his fourth straight victory. That time bested his other 8k race by 26 seconds, while Blahutova's time was her second-best as a Hawk.
UMES will race in two more meets this fall, both of which will be hosted by Delaware State. After the Delaware Invitational on October 17th, the Hawks will run for the MEAC Championships in Smyrna, Del. on November 1st.
