Dec. 1, 2014

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards for November 24 through 30, naming Hawks' forward Mike Myers as their Rookie of the Week. The senior from Camden, N.J. averaged 16.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in three non-conference contests for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

On Monday against Detroit, Myers finished with a career-high 21 points in 32 minutes against the Titans. The big man dominated down low, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor and grabbing six rebounds. Myers even tacked on two assists as part of an all-around performance. Myers had a quieter game on Tuesday against Bucknell, contributing nine points and seven rebounds in the 58-55 defeat.

Myers led the Hawks to their second victory of the season on Saturday afternoon at Fordham University. Versus the Rams, Myers came up with several big plays to preserve a slim lead, including a three-point play and two free throws down the stretch. The forward finished the night with a team-high 20 points, as well as two rebounds, two steals and one block.

On the season, Myers leads the team in both scoring at 13.0 points per game and rebounding at 5.5 boards per game. The Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday night with their regular season home opener against the UMBC Retrievers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at W.P. Hytche Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.
