Box Score

CHARLESTON, S.C. - On the second day of the Charleston Southern Tournament, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) softball team fell to the host team, Charleston Southern University (CSU), 7-1. With the loss, the Lady Hawks dropped to 0-3 overall while the Bucs remain perfect, 3-0, on the season.

Emily Diseroad (Manchester Valley, Md.) recorded her first multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-3 with a double. Morgan King (Danville, Ill.) and Trenece Nash (Decatur, Ga.) each registered a hit in the loss.

Trailing, 3-0, after the first three innings of action, the Lady Hawks had runners on first and second with one out. Diseroad was up-to-bat and delivered a single up-the-middle to bring home King to put the team on the board, 3-1. For UMES, this would be the only run produced on the day as CSU scored four unanswered runs in the fifth, including three RBIs from the Bucs' Jessica Brock. Maryland Eastern Shore would fall to the final score, 7-1.

For Charleston Southern, Brock went 2-for-3 with four RBIs while the Bucs' pitching staff held the Lady Hawks to four hits in the victory.

UMES was scheduled to play Elon University later on today, but the game was called due to darkness. The game between the Lady Hawks and Phoenix will not continue.

Tomorrow (02/09), Maryland Eastern Shore wraps-up the tournament against Elon. The first-pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. (EST)
