Martin combined versatile scoring with accurate long-range shooting, nailing 40.8% of his three-point attempts, third-best in the conference. The junior was named MEAC Player of the Week for December 8 to 14, which including a career-high 27 points against the North Carolina A&T Aggies.
Collins is among the 16 finalists for the Ben Jobe Award, presented annually to the top minority coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball. The other nominees include Levelle Moton of North Carolina Central and Robert Jones of Norfolk State among others. Collins also won the MEAC Coach of the Year award for turning around the Hawks' program with a 18-14 season, the most wins for the school since 1974. The Southern Pines, N.C. native guided the Hawks to a third-place finish after being picked 11th in the MEAC preseason poll.
