TOWSON, Md.  -- Senior Joshua James (Milford, Del.) and junior Connor Breslin (Saylorsburg, Pa.) stayed hot at the plate, but the Hawks could not extend their winning streak to four games as they dropped a non-conference game to the Towson Tigers by a 6-2 final.

James scored both of the team's run in a perfect 3-for-3 day on offense, all of them singles. His base knock led to a run in the first, and a sixth inning walk led to a second trip home. Breslin had a 2-for-4 day, also a pair of singles. James' average now stands at .272, third best on the team, while Breslin has improved his average more than 40 points over the last four games.

Freshman Scott Bean (Harveys Lake, Pa.) got his second midweek start as a Hawk, and thanks to a RBI single from sophomore Skylar Murray (Georgetown, Del.), was handed a 1-0 lead. However, Towson strung together a two out rally when the Tiger shortstop tripled to score two and give the home team the lead.

Towson would add on another run in the third with an RBI single, but Bean would bookend scoreless innings, finishing with three runs over four innings, two walks and three strikeouts.

Sophomore Kameron Raison (Newark, Del.) followed Bean to the hill and Towson greeted him with another two out rally that extended the lead to 4-1. UMES would counter with James stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch to cut into the deficit, and Raison responded with a scoreless sixth.

In the seventh, Towson tacked on more to their lead. With senior Michael Epps (Pottstown, Pa.) now pitching for the Hawks, a two run homerun gave the Tigers a 6-2 edge, and they kept the score there all the way to the final out.

UMES goes back to MEAC action with a three game series at Coppin State Friday and Saturday.
