PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - Maryland Eastern Shore senior third baseman Connor Breslin (Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania) enjoyed a nice plate at the plate, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted in as the Hawks dropped a midweek contest to Navy in Princess Anne.
With the 3-for-4 showing, Breslin improved his average to .304, joining sophomore Jessey Valdez (Dorchester, Massachusetts) and senior Mike Escanilla (Waldorf, Maryland) as the trio of Hawks with a plus .300 average this year.
The loss drops the Hawks to 5-18 on the season.
In addition to Breslin's fantastic day, the Hawks got help from two hits and a run by junior Jordan Martin (Atlanta, Georgia) and RBI's from sophomore Jamison Trower (Chesterfield, Virginia) and junior Dallas Culotta (Princess Anne, Maryland).
Freshman Tyrell Ricks (Herndon, Virginia) took the loss, surrendering five runs over two innings. Senior Devin Repine (Salisbury, Maryland) and sophomores Toby Hoskins (North East, Maryland) and Jordan Turner (Baltimore, Maryland) combined for 2 2/3 innings without an earned run.
The Hawks trailed 7-1 after two innings of play and were outscored 6-0 thru the final four innings.
"We struggled today, plain and simple." said head coach John O'Neil. "We are battling through a tough stretch. The team is continuing to work hard to find a way to overcome. Our guys and staff are staying positive as we know we will get past this. We are looking forward to getting back on the field this weekend."
This weekend will serve as a return to MEAC play when the Hawks hit the road to face Delaware State. A doubleheader begins Saturday at noon in Dover.
