Jan. 18, 2017 JONESBORO, Arkansas - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore came back from the Mid-Winter Invitational with a seventh-place finish and an 5-5 overall event record.
Heading into bracket play on Sunday, The Shore was in sixth, but opened the day with a loss to Vanderbilt, 826-706, and then fell to Alabama Birmingham, 719-612.
"Sunday, we established that the lanes were a great deal tighter than the days prior, but adjustments were not made soon enough," Hawks coach Kayla Bandy said. "I regret not making staffing changes faster and moving the team deeper on the lane early in the day. We stayed in the track too long and didn't cover our spares."
The Hawks rebounded with a 1088-1018 win against Monmouth to finish out the competition.
"Late in the day, we ended on a solid note as we rolled the marbles deep and converted spares," Bandy said. "We now turn our attention to the next event on our schedule."
The Hawks will next be in competition Jan. 20-22 at the Kutztown University Invitational in Reading, Pennsylvania.
