READING, Pennsylvania - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is in third place at the Kutztown Invitational after posting a 4-2 record on Day 2.
Sophomore Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Indiana) and graduate student Thashaina Seraus (Orangestad, Aruba) each bowled in all six of the day’s matches for the Hawks who are 9-3 so far in the event.
Rhoda, followed up a strong Friday performance with a 211.17 average, marked 83 percent of the time and struck 56 percent of the time. She opened strong with games of 245, 226 and 234.
Seraus continues to build back to the level she was bowling before the winter break. She rolled a 204 average while marking in 68 percent of her frames. She had a 53 percent strike average. She was over 200 in four matches with a high of 216.
Sophomore Danielle August (Mililani, Hawaii) led the way for the Hawks with a 209.33 average over three games, marked in 85 percent of her frames and struck 49 percent of the time. She bowled the Hawks’ high game of the day — a 278 against Bethune-Cookman.
Junior Jalesa Johnson (Delmar, Delaware) bowled the day’s last five matches averaging 208.20, marking at 79 percent and striking 52 percent of the time.
Freshman Cayla Hicks (Richmond, Virginia) averaged a 186.25 over four games, marked 83 percent of the time with 46 percent of those being strikes.
Melanie Copey, 156.33 (Ontario, New York); Alexandra Hernandez, 189 (Maracaibo, Venezuela) and Brigitte Jacobs, 128 (Freeport, Illinois) also saw action.
Sunday will feature bracket play with three matches in bracket style position rounds based on standing heading into the final day.
