GREENSBORO, North Carolina - For the second straight game the Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team was at the mercy of the North Carolina A&T offense, who was firing on all cylinders in a 19-5 victory over the Hawks Saturday afternoon.
Junior Tyler Friis (Appleton, Wisconsin) was the clutch hitter for the Hawks, going 2-for-3 and registered three of the team's five RBI's. Sophomore Ryan Rotondo (Warwick, Rhode Island) also added two hits with an RBI, and senior Jordan Wesley (Mitchellville, Maryland) and junior Dallas Culotta (Princess Anne, Maryland) delivered two hits each.
Sophomore Zach Mills (Parksley, Virginia) had a fine day on both offense and defense. He finished off the game for the Hawks on the rubber with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts. Mills also earned a hit at the plate with an RBI single.
For North Carolina A&T, Milton Rivera, AJ Hunt and Myles Sowell punched home four RBI's each for the Aggies.
Hawks freshman Steven Cook (Westminster, Maryland) was tagged with the loss to go 0-2 on the season.
North Carolina A&T led the game wire-to-wire, scoring five runs in the first inning and never looking back with a trio of three run innings and another five run effort in the seventh.
The Shore plays one final game against North Carolina A&T at 1 p.m. Sunday.
