PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — Another tough matchup is ahead of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 15) as they face the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. Tip is set for 2 p.m.

This game will be the Shore's second time facing an ACC opponent this season. Eastern Shore fell to NC State 95-49 back on Nov. 10.

The game will be the Hawks (1-9) second game in the Steel City in three days as they dropped a contest to Duquesne 72-57 on Thursday night (Dec. 13). Guards Ryan Andino (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and Dontae Caldwell (Santa Ana, CA) led the way for the Hawks in that game. Andino poured in 22 points including six 3-pointers, while Caldwell had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The game brought Andino to 996 career points, just four away from becoming the tenth player to score 1,000 for the Hawks.

Maryland Eastern Shore was without point guard Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico) their last time out as he continues to recover from a lower body injury. He added to the injury woes that have hampered the Hawks this season, but center Isaac Taylor (Wachapreague, VA) and forward Colen Gaynor (Berlin, MD) look to return to the lineup in the coming weeks.

As for the Hawks opponent on Saturday, Pittsburgh, they are 7-3 and coming into the game on a two game losing streak and have been off for six days. The Panthers last win came versus Duquesne on Nov. 30.

Five players average above nine points for Pittsburgh. Freshman Xavier Johnson leads the way for them with 16.8 points and 4.9 assists per game.
