TOWSON, Maryland - The Hawks fell to Towson in two games on Wednesday (Mar. 15) with scores of 5-1 and 10-0.
The Shore did not have a strong day at the plate. They got a total of four hits in the two games.
In game one, Megan Dejter (8-0) tossed a complete game for Towson while giving up two hits and one run. The hits for the Hawks came in the fourth inning from senior Samantha Casarez and junior Breana Florez. Florez drove in Casarez for the Hawks only run in that inning.
The Hawks carried a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning, but Towson was able to finally breakthrough and get runs. The Tigers scored all five of their runs in the bottom of that inning.
In game two, Melissa Abrahamian (4-0) threw a five inning shutout for Towson. The Hawks managed two hits in that game as well. They came from junior Mackenzie Brown and sophomore LeAnn Gingrich in the third inning following a walk from junior Heidi Smith. But the Hawks were unable to plate any of those runners and never threatened to score again.
Towson had a big fourth inning where they scored seven runs on six hits. The Tigers had a total of 10 batters come to the plate in that frame.
The Shore will be back in action this weekend (Mar. 17-18) with a doubleheader against Delaware State in their MEAC opener on Saturday. The games will be played at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salisbury. First pitch will be at 1:00 p.m.
