Hawks go 2-3 on first day of Music City

March 16, 2018

SMYRNA, Tennessee -

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore finished the opening day of the Music City Classic with just a pair of wins Friday at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee.

"It was a horrible day on the lanes," said head coach Kayla Bandy. "We finished just 2-3 and had the easiest schedule of matches this season. We missed far too many spares. We never found the proper ball motion all day. I was extremely disappointed in our performance."

The Hawks won their first Baker match of the day, 901-896, against Louisiana Tech and then followed that up with a 971-891 loss to Vanderbilt.

Next up was a 1,036-843 loss to Jackson State and then topped Lincoln University 853-788 to pull to an even 2-2.

But the final match saw The Shore fall 1001-836 against Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The Hawks will play five traditional matches beginning at 9:30 a.m. central time on Saturday. Bracket play will be on Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
